I would like to think that as a Samoan mother and someone who truly believes in the old saying that happiness makes the world go round, I can handle most things life hurls my way. So today, I catch myself off balanced, disorientated and asking the question, what have I done to deserve this, on repeat edged with ika-ness stabbing my side because of Moana’s announcement. Moana is 16, beautiful, fiercely intelligent, Head Girl of her school AND her entire life to live in front of her. I know, cliché, but that’s the truth about my daughter. She is also a moe-pi, kaukali’ikiki and has no idea about boys! Engagement! Pfft! Over my dead body. End. Of. Story.
